What is The SFBA Summer Hoops Academy?
The SFBA Summer Hoops Academy is an off-season summer basketball development camp designed to help youth basketball players improve their basketball skills and athletic performance. This is not a Day Care. Your child will not be placed into a group based on who their friends are.
How is your basketball development program designed?
Our coaches have created a curriculum that starts with a foundation of fundamental basketball skills. Our curriculum includes ball handling, shooting form, passing, defense, and footwork. As players progress through our program, they will begin to apply their fundamentals to in-game situations. Players will practice shooting off of the catch & dribble, attacking from a triple threat, attack moves to the basket, pick and roll actions, player to player defense, moving without the ball, and numerous passing options. Players will play an organized scrimmage each day to practice the skills they learned during camp. Coaches will review the scrimmage with players the following day to go over details from the game with their players. At the end of each day, players will participate in our in-camp basketball tournament.
How is your Athletic development program designed?
The off-season is the time for players to improve their overall strength, multi-directional speed, power, agility, and prepare their body for the upcoming basketball season. Purposeful strength training designed to support a player's basketball skills is essential to maximizing a player's potential. SFBA has designed the athletic development curriculum to push athletes to their full potential while allowing for proper rest between specific workouts. Our Vertimax is one of the tools we use to help athletes develop explosive power in the linear, lateral, and vertical direction.
Do you have different groups for players with different skill levels?
Yes, we do. We divide our camp into three different groups. These include our Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 groups. Level 1 is for our Intro players just learning the game and in need of a strictly foundational curriculum. Level 2 is for our Intermediate players who have some experience playing basketball and need additional fundamental skill development. Level 3 is for our Advanced players who play competitive basketball and have and have a solid grasp of the essential skills and advanced gameplay.
How many students are in each session?
No more than 35 students will be allowed in each session. We have lowered our enrollment numbers for the upcoming program.
For 2022 we are dropping our enrollment numbers down to allow for our coaches to focus on smaller groups and provide more instruction to each athlete. You will not be allowed to register your student into a specific week once we have reached our maximum number.
