SFBA Basketball Micro-Season

Build Real Basketball Confidence

— Without the Full AAU Commitment
The SFBA Micro-Season is a short, focused basketball experience designed to help young athletes learn how to play the game, apply their skills in real situations, and build confidence — all in just a few weekends. During the summer our Micro-Season expands to 10 Days of Basketball Practices.
Perfect for families who want real development, structure, and value, without the time or cost of a full season.
✔ Skill application, not just drills
✔ Team concepts, spacing, decision-making
✔ Tournament play in a local basketball tournament
✔ Intentional coaching

This program is a great fit if you’re a parent who:

  • Wants your child to understand the game, not just run drills

  • Feels like current training or leagues aren’t translating to real games

  • Wants a short commitment with meaningful results

  • Is preparing for upcoming seasons, tryouts, or future team play

  • Values confidence, basketball IQ, and long-term growth

Designed for:
Players in 5th–8th grade (boys & girls) with some basketball experience who want to grow.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Most basketball options fall into two extremes:

  • ❌ Skill training with little game context

  • ❌ Full seasons that are expensive, time-consuming, and overwhelming

The Micro-Season bridges the gap.

We combine:

  • Skill work → team concepts → live play

  • Coaching that emphasizes decision-making, spacing, reads, and confidence

  • A structure that allows players to apply what they learn immediately

This is where development starts to make sense for young players.

WHAT MAKES THE MICRO-SEASON DIFFERENT

By the end of the Micro-Season, players will:

  • Play with more confidence and awareness

  • Understand how and why to make decisions on the court

  • Improve communication and team play

  • Experience real competition in a supported learning environment

  • Feel better prepared for future seasons and teams

Parents consistently tell us they notice:

  • Better decision-making

  • Improved confidence

  • A stronger understanding of the game

HOW IT WORKS

We saw a gap.
Many young athletes train hard but struggle to:

  • Apply skills in real games

  • Understand spacing, movement, and reads

  • Feel confident when the game speeds up

The Micro-Season was built to slow the game down, teach players how to think, and give them a place to grow without the pressure or commitment of a full season.

What skill level is this for?
Players should have basic basketball experience. This is not a beginner program, but it is development-focused. This program is designed for players that want to play AAU or competitive basketball but have had difficulty making a team, earning minutes on their team, or struggling understanding how to apply their skills to actual games.

Is this AAU?
No. This is a short-term development experience designed to complement training and future team play. However, the season finishes with the players competing in a local Bay Area Basketball Tournament against other AAU teams.

What if we miss a session?
We recommend attending all sessions, but we understand conflicts may happen. If your child's development and confidence are a priority then attendance should be a must.

Who is coaching?
SFBA coaches focused on teaching the game, not just winning games.
